How Would Mankind REALLY to First Contact?

For as long as human beings have looked into the night sky, we have wondered whether we are alone.  Science fiction has given us countless answers. Aliens arrive in enormous spacecraft and announce their presence to a frightened Earth. Governments scramble to respond. Scientists celebrate. Military forces go on alert. Religious leaders interpret the event through the lens of faith. Crowds gather in the streets. And, inevitably, someone says, "We are not alone."
